A movie which follows the seven-year journey of the Hayabusa space probe, which returned to Earth on June 13, has scored a hit, with theaters extending its run to accommodate growing crowds of spectators.
"Hayabusa Back to the Earth," a 43-minute film produced by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, among others, follows the space probe's 6-billion-kilometer journey as it travels to the asteroid Itokawa to collect samples of terrain and encounters various mechanical problems along the way.
The story and spectacular computer graphic images have proven particularly popular after the Hayabusa made its fiery return to Earth.
